Mission Statement

We believe that with the recent explosion of the EdTech world, we can get lost in a sea of information. There are free online resources that have not existed 10 years ago, and with proper guidance, everyone can have access to premier resources for education and career advancement.

With the availability of online resources such as edX and Coursera, our goal is to provide access to high quality free resources without advertisements or intrusive data collection.

For the best basic intro to college level topics, we recommend: https://www.khanacademy.org/

For low-cost Python coding instruction (frequently on sale for under $30), we recommend: 100 Days of Code: The Complete Python Pro Bootcamp for 2022 | Udemy

For free coding tutorials we recommend: https://www.freecodecamp.org/

Inspiration on Power of Mentoring: TEDx Dr John Hall, Am I Still Autistic

By whittling down the sea of information from tens of thousands of courses to the courses most likely to be useful for a typical undergraduate education, we hope to be able to provide a taste of the experience of students at elite schools like MIT, Yale, UC Irvine and Oxford, while also providing resources most helpful to students looking for assistance with the core university curriculum.

Learning vs. Media Consumption:

MIT Open Courseware (https://ocw.mit.edu/) has over 2,000 courses. This reminds me of one of my favorite sayings: “What is better than owning 10 businesses? 1 really successful business!” Although it is important to have diversity – I am a believer that everyone should have a solid foundation in both STEM and the humanities – an undergraduate student takes 40 courses, not 2,000 or even 100.

Beyond education and career guidance, we all need life guidance as well.

The below link on media consumption is astounding. Everyone has 2 hours a day to devote to expanding their mind. Imagine devoting 2 hours each day over the next 2 years to investment in education:  each day commit to spending one hour on video lectures and one hour of textbook review, assignments, and/or programming. An in-depth course at MIT is typically 30 hours of lectures. Within 2 years one could achieve mastery of the core curriculum as well as several upper level courses, great preparation for a masters degree and a career.

The below link to Nielsen’s survey of media consumption is very important to internalize.
The average American spends 6 hours a day on electronic media!
